Statistics show that men are more likely to experience hair
loss at some point in their lives than women. Although hair loss in men is
common, it does not make it less embarrassing or frustrating to the person who
suffers from it. The loss of a person's hair can confirm your confidence and
make you feel a range of emotions that may lead you to feel very depressed
about the whole thing.
Many men choose to hide hair loss for as long as possible
before looking for a solution, such as hair loss surgery. However, hair loss
does not have to be a reason to hide when the solution is quick and easy. It
can give you a full, healthy head.
While both men and women can suffer from hair loss, it tends
to be more pronounced in men. This is due to the fact that men and women lose
their hair in very different ways. We will look here why hair loss appears to
be more common in men than in women.

Alopecia is more common in men
Permanent hair loss affects 70% of men and 40% of women in
their lives. This is a big difference between the sexes but when you see the
underlying reasons, it makes more sense.
Basically, men are more prone to a condition known as
androgenic alopecia. This is a genetically inherited condition, often referred
to as baldness in males, and begins with hair loss starting from the temples
and retreats to the characteristic "M". Hair is also lost in the
crown in most cases as well. The condition increases the activity of the
androgen receptors in the hair follicles.
Hair loss in young people
Some men suffer from hair loss in their teens and early
twenties, which are usually the result of hormones. Because hormones thrive in
adulthood, they make some men in their teens and early twenties more likely to
lose their hair as testosterone is produced at a higher amount during puberty
than at any other time in men's lives. Even if there is no gene for male
masturbation, this increase in hormones still causes hair follicles to
contract.
According to the American Hair Loss Association, by the age
of 35, about two thirds of men will have lost a little hair. By age 50, 85%
will have thinning hair or have lost a large amount of hair.
While some women experience hair loss early in life, it is
more common after menopause, not because of increased testosterone, but because
of its low levels of other hormones. Usually hair loss occurs before menopause
due to a condition known as alopecia which can develop at any time and cause
hair loss which may or may not always be. Often the cause of stress is not a
common condition.
Hair loss when men are more obvious
Another reason men seem to lose their hair often is that
women are more obvious when a man begins to lose his hair. As mentioned above,
the pattern of hair loss characteristic of male baldness is very obvious, but
when this process begins, it is usually not a gradual process. When compared to
how women lose their hair, throughout the scalp at a slower rate so the
appearance is thin and not thin, men tend to lose too much hair over a shorter
period than the areas defined for crown and hair line.
Why do not all men suffer from rapid hair loss?
Going back to the theory of hormones, you may wonder why all
men are not exposed to hair loss if they all produce testosterone and thus
produce the same product as testosterone secondary. This is believed to be due
to the fact that some men create more than others, and some have more receptors
than others. A man can make a lot of hormones and still suffers from a large
hair loss if he has a few receptors in his hair follicle. Also, not all men are
prone to male baldness because this condition is usually transmitted in genes,
so the man whose father suffers from hair loss, is genetically prepared for his
experience also is likely to lose his hair more than the father man still has a
full head of hair.
